The Roman Empire and its impact on Britain
‘Incursio Romanus!’ – Roman Invasion! Imagine the scene. Thousands of Iron Age warriors staring out from a clifftop overlooking the English Channel. The ships and soldiers of the Roman Empire are about to land on the beaches. It is 55bce and the Romans have had their eyes on the wealth and natural resources that Britain has to offer for some years now. This fearsome full-time army seemed unstoppable. After all, the British tribes were mostly farmers – called to arms only when their tribal leaders bid them. One of Rome’s most powerful generals, Julius Caesar was about to change the lives of the Britons forever. Join us, in our Roman Britain workshop, and find out exactly what happened next.
'I had the pleasure of taking part in the Roman Day you delivered for our Year 3 pupils at Pilton Bluecoat Junior School, earlier this term. It was an outstanding experience, and we were all genuinely impressed by the quality and engagement of the day - thank you!' Miriam Halpin, class teacher.
‘Just a quick note to say a huge thank you for making the Workshop such a wonderful experience for our children. They all had a brilliant time and we hope to see you back here again soon.’ Tino Roberto Malborough with St Huish Primary School 12/2/25
