New workshop for April 2025 - Romans in Britain
Transport your class back to the classical world of the Ancient Greeks. Learn about how this mighty civilisation was born; how it flourished and how its legacy of science, the arts and democracy have echoed down the ages to affect us to this very day. Find out about and practise the battle tactics of Ancient Greek armies including sword, shield, sling, spear and archery. Immerse your students in a workshop that will both captivate and educate - an experience not to be missed!

Welcome by time travellers Spiros and Calista in role. Learn about the early civilisations of the Minoans and the Mycenaeans.
Hear the story of the Iliad, by Homer. Make a class wall frieze telling the story of the Trojan war.
Learn about Ancient Greek clothing and jewellery and how they grew and spun flax to make linen.
Learn about the origins of drama and the great amphitheatres.
Make a theatrical mask to perform the Greek myth, Perseus and Medusa.
Learn and play the ancient board games, Mancala and knucklebones.

Learn about how the Gods and Goddesses featured in everyday life.
Find out about Ancient Greek soldiers and the weapons they used. Learn about how and why they went to war.
Practise Greek battle tactics - the phalanx, with spears and shields. Learn how to protect yourself and your friends in a battle situation.
Using wooden swords, practice techniques that would enable you to successfully protect yourself.
Practise archery skills using safety arrows - can you hit the target from 5 metres away, or even 7?
Learn teamwork and develop strength as a hoplite in a classic tug of war competition.
Using a slingshot for hunting and protection

Please note that we can be very flexible about the order and timings of these activities. Our workshops will accommodate the needs of your class and the learning of your pupils.
